【Open Space Technology】 is a meeting method with which everyone is free to choose the topics of interest to join a discussion.
OST is a way of holding meetings. It creating a platform for discussions, allowing everyone to express their goal or topic of interest, listen to and understand the ideas of others, and then work together to develop action plans. In this way, it offers a great opportunity for people to provoke and collide their thoughts.
We use the characteristics of the three animals as a metaphor for different meeting participants. Participants who liked various topics were comparable to diligent bees moving among teams; those who preferred to chat freely were like butterflies stopping at the rest area. Those who enjoyed various discussions were like curious giraffes stretching their necks to look at other teams' discussions.
Titansoft used the "law of two feet" to create openness in the space along with four principles: ❶ whoever comes is the right people, ❷ whatever happens is the only thing that could have, ❸ whenever it starts is the right time, ❹ when it is over, it is over.
The various annual meetings of Titansoft are not limited by the time in a day. Even at night, it is "open" for topics to flow among spaces and time slots, allowing interested people to "present" naturally and irrelevant people to "drift away" freely. And this is the spirit and charm of open space meetings. To Titaners, OST is not just a meeting or a workshop. OST should have warmth to give everyone a sense of the depth and tangibility of the discussions.
